Defying Expectations
It can be pretty amusing.
This awkward highlight is brought to you by last semester’s public relations class. Our professor divided us up into four groups. In these groups, we were to work on projects and collaborate on papers. We would be working with the same people for the remainder of the semester.
Things went smoothly for a while. And then, by some great chemical imbalance in my brain, I developed a crush on one of the guys in my group. I usually pride myself in not getting sidetracked while working on a task.
But like it or not, I found myself sneaking glances at the guy in the socks and sandals.
It wasn’t until we were in the process of creating media releases when I noticed him. Not sure if it was his slack and lay back wardrobe, his mild-mannered attitude, or his smile. When he walked, the wind seemed to blow his unkempt hair behind him and the hallelujah chorus sang. I barely knew him, but it only made sense to ask him out.
Did I stalk him on social media first? Nah. Did I bother finding out his current relationship status? Nope. Where’s the spontaneity in that anyway? Most novel worthy romances don’t begin with “I scrolled through his profile page and I just knew!” In other words, no extractive strategy for me, thank you very much.
