A continuation of a new reality

Lauren walked beside Zorin, taking in the sights. He clasped her hand as they walked across the docks overlooking the water. Boats bobbing along the crystal blue water stretched as far as she could see. She didn’t even have to fake an interest in the tourism and ancient buildings aligning the sea.

“Was the seafood to your liking?” asked Zorin.

“I never thought I’d develop a craving for freshly caught eel.” Lauren replied honestly. It wasn’t enough Zorin had taken her out for freshly caught seafood and sparkling wine before noon. He had bought her every kind of thing she wanted. What began as a walk around Venice in her pajamas, turned into an afternoon stroll in her newly bought sailor dress and handmade espadrilles. Though he hadn’t exactly bought her the items. It was more that Zorin enticed the saleswoman enough to give them the clothes entirely free.

He removed his sunglasses and gazed into her eyes. At first, she was put off by his insanely black alien-like eyes. But she soon relaxed into an almost hypnotized state. Lauren insisted they go back inside and pay. But Zorin said it would only arouse suspicion if they returned to pay. It didn’t feel right, but she wasn’t about to question someone with abilities beyond anyone’s control.
